Power bleaching, also known as in in-office-bleaching, is a medicinal procedure which whitens teeth substantially in very little time by using a special LED lamp.
Power bleaching costs CHF 490. For best results, we recommend going to the dental hygienist and for a check-up before treatment.
It depends on several factors for how long your teeth stay white. Avoid highly teeth-staining foods and hold back on coffee, tea, tobacco and red wine. Optimize your daily oral hygiene and visit the dental hygienist regularly.
You’ll receive a list of recommendations after your power bleaching. If you follow these, the whiteness of your teeth should last for one to two years. Since the whiteness will eventually fade, you can always repeat the procedure.
First, we position a cheek retractor, then we cover your mucous membranes and gums with a light-curing paste and isolate your teeth. In a next step, we brush your teeth with a hydrogen-peroxide-gel and light them with the power bleaching LED lamp for 15 minutes.
Depending on the desired shade, this cycle is repeated for up to four times. After each cycle, the hydrogen-peroxide-gel is renewed. We take pictures before and after treatment for documentation and evaluation purposes. Power bleaching takes about an hour.
During treatment, you’ll wear a cheek retractor, which safely holds your cheeks and lips apart. We cover your mucous membranes and gums completely with rubber dam gel to protect them from injuries.
Patients wear protective goggles during power bleaching with the appropriate filter to shield the eyes.
For an optimal result of power bleaching, we recommend going to the dental hygienist and for a check-up before treatment.
Carious teeth, dental infections or gum disease must be treated before power bleaching. Also, leaking or insufficient fillings have to be replaced beforehand.
Power bleaching does NOT whiten artificial teeth, crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, onlays, overlays, composite fillings or other restorative materials. These have to be replaced after power bleaching to match the color.
Spotty discolorations caused by tetracycline (or fluorosis) can only be whitened partially, if at all. Further procedures may be necessary to treat these.
During the first 24 to 48 hours after a power bleaching you may experience hightened sensitivity or slight pain in your teeth. This is normal and should abate after two days. In very few cases, highly sensitive patients may experience the symptoms for longer.
In cases of sensitive teeth, exposed root surfaces or dentin, untreated carious lesions, fissures, abfractions, loose fillings, insufficient reconstructions, lesions of the mucous membrane or other pathologies, hydrogen-peroxide-gel can enter the teeth. This can lead to overly sensitive teeth or intense toothache. A pulpal reaction and/or devitalization of the tooth cannot be ruled out. That’s why we advise you to treat any existing pathologies before power bleaching.
If the protective cover is leaky and irritant hydrogen-peroxide-gel reaches the pulp, mucous membranes or lips, lesions may occur. This can be slightly painful but usually heals quickly.
A different method of dental whitening is home bleaching. This involves customized trays for your teeth. You fill these at home with a less concentrated gel and wear them for several hours (four to eight hours a day), usually during the night. This bleaching method is especially suitable for patients with sensitive teeth or patients who want to prevent sensitive teeth. Home bleaching takes two to four weeks.
Another, more invasive method involves ceramic or synthetic restoration. This type of therapy is much more costly and complex. Also, it usually means a loss of healthy tooth structure. The advantage of this method lies in its durability: The color will hardly change over time and additionally, slight corrections can be made to the position of the teeth during treatment.

The aim of orthodontic treatment is to remove the misaligned teeth and/or jaw and to restore the function and aesthetics of the dentition.
Present day dentistry counts on the laser as its allrounder: In oral surgery, the laser ensures a precise treatment and pain-free recovery with few complications. The regeneration of tissue is sped up and helped by laser-biostimulation.
The surgical microscope allows us to do high precision work even on the smallest scale. It increases the quality of our work and is especially valuable when it comes to periodontal therapy, cariology and minimally invasive oral surgery.
There are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth – if it can’t be saved otherwise or, in the case of wisdom teeth, if they get infected or can’t be cleaned. Our routine services also include the removal of the labial or tongue frenulum.
Chewing and eating hard foods can become very difficult once one has lost several teeth. With custom-made partial or full dentures, we can help you enjoy eating once more.
A fractured or cracked tooth can be restored to its former shape, color and function with the use of partial or full ceramic crowns. A gap caused by the loss of a tooth can be filled with a bridge or implant.
Gum disease (gingivitis or paradontitis) is caused by a buildup of bactieria and infection of the small pockets that separate the gums from the teeth. This can damage the bone and cause the teeth to become loose and sensitive. We can stop the progression of gum disease through periodontal therapy.
When bacteria enters the pulp tissue of a tooth it can cause infection. We can save the tooth with the help of modern root canal shaping technique, efficient mouthrinse solutions and the obturation of the root canal under the microscope.

Nature is several steps ahead of us. That’s why we take great care to maintain your natural teeth for as long as possible. We consider an implant or prosthetic solution only when all other conservative therapheutic options have been exhausted and/or cost-effectiveness requires it.
Some patients cannot be treated while awake, be it because of age, anxiety or a medical condition. For these patients, we provide outpatient general anesthesia with the support of an experienced external anesthesiology-team, consisting of an anesthesiologist and a nurse.
We perform general anesthesia only on children and adolescents.
Nitrous oxide, also known as «laughing gas», is a safe medicinal sedative. It’s soothing, relaxing and helps minimize anxiety during treatment. Additionally, it reduces the gagging reflex. When administered nitrous oxide, patients lose their sense of time so they perceive the treatment as shorter and the procedure in general as more pleasant. It’s ideal for uncooperative toddlers or anxious patients.
